Tasktop Announces GitLab Issues Connector, Enabling Effective DevOps at Scale

Integrates GitLab Issues with Atlassian JIRA, HPE Quality Center, CA Agile Central, VersionOne, 50 others

VANCOUVER, BC, Sept. 6, 2017Tasktop, the leader in Value Stream Integration, today announced its support for GitLab Issues in all editions of its flagship product Tasktop Integration Hub. With this support, Tasktop allows development teams in the enterprise to automatically flow issues bi-directionally into tools such as Atlassian JIRA, CA Agile Central (formerly Rally), Microfocus ALM, VersionOne and many others as well as get real-time insight into their DevOps and Agile toolchains. As a result, GitLab users can experience effective DevOps at scale.

GitLab Issues is an advanced tool for tracking the evolution of a new idea or the process of solving a problem. It allows organizations to share and discuss proposals before and while implementing them. Tasktop works with both the Community and Enterprise editions of GitLab Issues to flow issues from GitLab into separate purpose-built tools, such as a development team’s Agile planning tools. With the issue represented in both systems, information surrounding the issues can be kept up to date within both systems in a seamless manner.

For example, a development organization may have an established testing practice based on HPE ALM and Agile projects managed in CA Agile Central. With this connector, defects in HPE ALM can flow into GitLab to be corrected and traced to the corresponding source code. Similarly, stories in CA Agile Central can be sent to GitLab to be implemented by developers as part of the code, commit, review, deploy cycle managed in GitLab. This improves inter-team collaboration and breaks down team silos. It also supports cross-tool traceability and reporting, removing the need for manual processes and spreadsheets.

"GitLab allows anyone to reduce their time to value, bringing their ideas to production faster,” said Job van der Voort, GitLab VP of Product. “With the Tasktop integration, yet another hurdle in going from one application to the next is removed. We're excited to see enterprises ship faster and more reliably."

“With our common customer list and similar focus on the enterprise, it was just a matter of time before Tasktop added GitLab as a supported connector,” according to Nicole Bryan, VP Product, Tasktop. “Our latest connector helps large organizations further standardize on GitLab in the enterprise by connecting it with established governance systems for functions such as project and portfolio management, formal requirements management and service desk operations. By connecting GitLab’s end-to-end development platform using Tasktop, organizations and government agencies can adopt GitLab extensively while retaining existing governance systems and maintaining traceability throughout.”

The GitLab Issues connector is available today in Tasktop Integration Hub Pro Edition, Enterprise Edition and Ultimate Edition.
